It was recently confirmed that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 will be a high-end, premium flagship carrying the new Snapdragon 820 processor. In addition, there was also a recent confirmation that the upcoming flagship will be released early this year.

Picked up by Android Authority, a recent post on China's social media site Weibo quoted Li Wanqiang, one of Xiaomi's co-founders, announcing some teasers about the upcoming flagship.

Based on the translation of the company co-founder's post, the upcoming flagship is already in mass production, with a target release date after the Spring Festival. While there is no specific release date stated on the Weibo post, the industry follower placed the rollout date for the Xiaomi Mi 5 to be after the Chinese New Year, which is Feb. 8 this year.

In addition to the rollout date, the Weibo post also confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will ship out featuring the latest Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm.

Meanwhile, GSM Arena added that the original Weibo post haa been picked up and quoted by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, who also admitted that he already picked up a final version of the Mi 5 and has been using it for some time.

Although some specs of the Mi 5 were not yet confirmed, the rumored specs sheet of the upcoming flagship might also be proven true, if the confirmation about the Snapdragon 820 rumor is an indication.

Other speculated specs for the Xiaomi Mi 5 include a 5.2.inch display with QHD resolution, a 16-MP main shooter at the back and a 13-MP selfie camera at the front, an above-average 3,600 mAh battery and Android 6.0 Marshmallow platform right out of the box.
