The Xiaomi Mi 5 was not among the devices that came out during the company's launch event last Nov. 24, and the latest word right now is that the said device has been pushed to a possible January release.

Debuting last month were two devices instead — the Xiaomi Redmi 3 and the Mi Pad 2. In an interview with Xiaomi CEO Lie Jun after the launch event, the only revelation he was able to give tied up with the said handset is that everything is "worth the wait" and "very, very good," according to Tech Times

Xiaomi usually takes a considerable amount of time to develop their line of flagship killers, something that normally requires 12 to 18 months.

However, there is a chance that the device could be out by the first quarter of 2016. At the time of the said interview, Jun was actually using a prototype of the Mi 5 which he confidently calls a fantastic device.

Right now, all folks can do is rely on rumoured specs for the Xiaomi Mi 5. That include a device sporting a 5.3-inch QHD display (2560 x 1440 resolution), something that would run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad core processor, 4 GB of RAM, 16 GB or 64 GB of internal storage, a 16-megapixel main camera and a 3,000 mAh battery.

With regard to its release date, there are multiple rumors on when the Xiaomi Mi 5 may come out. The earliest is one that hints at possibly coming out at a special event on Dec. 3, another stating that it will be in January 2016. There's also one suggesting that it will be out after the Spring Festival in China which is held every February.

Right now it may be in the best interest of most consumers planning to get the device to look forward to a first quarter 2016 release, either January or February.

The December release seems a bit early, although it wouldn't hurt to see it come out and finally satisfy the folks who are anxious to get their hands on it.
