While the new Xiaomi Mi 5 was showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2016, most global fans are still waiting for the flagship to come out to retailers, particularly in the U.S. Expectations of an official launch of the Mi 5 in the U.S. are expected as the flagship gathers favorable first impressions and top marks on benchmark sites such as AnTuTu.

According to Phone Arena, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is an impressive flagship, getting top marks – a remarkable 179,566 overall – on AnTuTu. The top score highlights the top-tier specs of the new flagship, as the Mi 5 carries the new Snapdragon 820 chipset. In addition, the iteration is one of the few that feature at least 4 GB of RAM.

The AnTuTu benchmark figure is an impressive one and much higher than an earlier score of 142,084. The figures themselves are so impressive that according to an earlier report by Android Headlines, the Xiaomi Mi 5's early AntuTu benchmark scores overshadowed two other MWC 2016 flagship attendees – the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5. The industry follower noted that the LG G5 posted 133,054 points on AnTuTu, while the Samsung Galaxy S7 scored 116,668 points.

First impressions of the Xiaomi Mi 5 are also favorable. According to The Verge, it is astonishing to know that Xiaomi managed to cram top-tier specs into the Mi 5 while maintaining a price of at least $200; other competitors with almost the same specs have price tags upwards of $600.

Aside from the top-tier chipset and massive RAM, the Mi 5 also offers premium features like VoLTE and a 16MP camera with a Sony sensor.

AndroidPit also lauds the Mi 5, declaring that it is disappointing for Xiaomi to launch the device only in China and India at this point. Although the Mi 5 can be purchased unlocked, Xiaomi has yet to announce marketing plans for some major markets like the U.S. and Europe.
