Xiaomi Mi 5 specs: Leaked images show key specs for new Xiaomi handset

A new leak has been released showing a render of the Xiaomi Mi 5, giving Xiaomi fans a look into some key specs for the upcoming handset. The render is unofficial, but there is reason to believe that it's reliable.

Chinese source Zaeke places the upcoming Xiaomi handset with a 2.5D Glass Panel and 3D glass panel in the back. The image also shows a physical home button with a thin, almost Samsung-like design to it.

The home button is also said to house the fingerprint scanner, and considering how it is designed, users could most likely see one of the smallest fingerprint scanners to date. Other features that can be observed from the rendered image are a metal frame with chamfered glass and a USB Type-C port for a connector in the middle of speaker grills.

There is reason to believe also that the phone will launch with Android 6.0 Marshmallow coming out of the box, as well as Xiaomi's in-house MIUI 7. There will be two versions of the handset- one with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory which will be priced at CNY 1,999 (or $308), and another one with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, which will be priced at CNY 2,299 ($354).

Earlier this month, Gizmo China revealed another render of the Xiaomi Mi 5 that is mostly similar with the current leak. The only notable difference was the size of the home button/fingerprint sensor, which was relatively larger than the current render.

Needless to day, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt as they are unofficial.

Prior rumours have further indicated that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, and have a 5.2-inch touchscreen with 1080p or QHD resolution. The phone's cameras are set to be a 16-megapixel back-facing shooter and a close size for the front-facing camera with 13 megapixels. The phone will also have a dual-sim functionality and a 3,600 mAh battery.
