According to speculations, Xiaomi is not stopping with the Mi 5 release for this year. Reportedly, the China-based tech giant already has another flagship lined up, the follow-up to the Mi Note series.

TechnoBuffalo said that reports out of China have already leaked the specs of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 2. Allegedly, the new Mi Note 2 will offer either a Snapdragon 820 or 823 chipset, and the industry follower mentioned that Xiaomi may also opt for both processors for two different versions. With a Snapdragon 820 chipset as a base model, the company may also launch a Mi Note 2 Pro, with the Snapdragon 823 and a higher RAM capacity. The base model Mi Note 2, on the other hand, will have at least 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.

According to GSM Arena, aside from a newer Snapdragon processor, one of the top-tier specs of the Mi Note 2 that fans may expect is 3D Touch support for its 5.7-inch QHD display. In addition, the new flagship may also use a 16MP Sony sensor on its main camera setup on the back and will also feature OIS. Meanwhile, the new iteration will reportedly carry 3,600 mAh battery with fast-charge support.

While Xiaomi has yet to come out and confirm details, the specs sheet for the Mi Note 2 is highly plausible. Having a Snapdragon core is also significant as this means that the upcoming flagship may saturate markets that the previous Mi Note failed to enter. According to BGR India, Xiaomi has a pending infringement lawsuit with Ericsson due to the original Mi Note's MediaTek-run specs. With a Snapdragon core in place, fans in India have a good chance of checking out the upcoming Mi Note 2 since the company will most likely release the flagship in the region.
