It is expected that Xiaomi will come out with at least two flagships before the year ends. With the new Mi 5s lineup already out, fans are anticipating the upcoming Mi Note 2. Speculations suggest that the debut has been moved to October.

According to GSM Arena, reports out of China state that instead of a back-to-back launch with the Mi 5s, the new Mi Note 2 will have its own press event later in October. Reportedly, China-based analyst Pan Jiutang agrees and adds that the new lineup will introduce at least two iterations at the end of the month.

Previously, rumors suggested that Xiaomi will be launching the Mi Note 2 first as a flagship follow-up rather than announcing the step-up version of its current-gen Mi 5 lineup. Some observers even surmised that, as per supposed teasers, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has a debut date of September 14, while a market release is intended for Sept. 24. However, with the Mi 5s getting its press launch on Sept. 27, the Mi Note 2's supposed September outing did not come to pass.

As to what fans can expect for the new lineup, the Mi Note 2 is said to be one of the phablets to beat once it rolls out. The base model is said to feature a Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with at least 4 GB of RAM. There may also be a 6-GB RAM variant, with onboard storage configured for either 64 or 128 GB.

Interestingly, there is also a rumored second version for the lineup, the Mi Note 2 Pro. According to speculations, it will feature a step-up Snapdragon 821 processor and a massive 8 GB of RAM. The internal storage will also get a boost, as the Pro version will supposedly carry 256 GB of storage.

Other purported specs include a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen with pressure-sensitive features, a 12-MP main camera, and at least 3,700 mAh battery.
