Rumors have already said that Xiaomi will be releasing new flagships later this year. Reportedly, one of the two is the upcoming Mi Note 2, tipped to debut early next month.

According to GSM Arena, reports out of China mention that the new follow-up to the Mi Note lineup will be unveiled on Sept. 5. In addition, the industry follower stated that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will also be one of the very first flagships to use Qualcomm's newest chipset, the Snapdragon 821 processor. The only other confirmed flagship to carry the new chipset is he ZenFone 3 Deluxe by Asus.

Aside from the Snapdragon 821 chipset, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is also said to carry impressive specs, since it will be one of the premiere flagships of the China-based tech maker. Reportedly, the new iteration will have at least 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, expected to be expandable via microSD support. However, there are also speculations that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will come in at least two variants, the base model having 4GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage, with the 6GB/64GB RAM/storage configuration for the top-tier, premium variant.

In addition, the new iteration will supposedly feature a 5.7-inch Samsung-made Super AMOLED display, with Quad HD resolution for the premium model, while the base variant will sport full HD display. The former will also allegedly get a dual-edge screen configuration, similar to the recently-released Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Other purported specs include Quick Charge support, USB Type-C connectivity, and a 4,000-mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is said to be one of two planned releases for late 2016. Accordingly, the other launch is for the Redmi 4, supposedly to debut on Aug. 25.
