Xiaomi Mi Note 2 specs, release date, news: leak reveals price ahead of launch next week

Tech heads are having a feast when a bunch of slides for the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi Note 2 surface online. Fans will not have to wait until next week to know the details of the company's next flagship phone.

As per the leaked slides via Android Pure, the upcoming device will offer an LG manufactured 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display screen. It will have 2K (2650 x 1440) resolution and a 3D touch feature. It also contains a dual camera setup that comes with Sony sensors, a 23 MP lens with an IMX318 and a 12 MP lens that has an IMX378. An 8 MP shooter is placed on the front for selfies shots.

The dual camera's special capabilities were not included in the leaked information, but it is speculated that the smaller sensor will provide the depth of field for the captured images. As a matter of fact, the recently announced Google Pixel smartphones also uses the IMX 378 sensor.

Driving the Xioami Mi Note 2 is a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 821 (2.15 GHz + 1.6 GHz) with an Adreno 530 GPU. The device will then be offered in two variants, a 4 GB RAM model with 64 GB storage and a 6 GB RAM model with a 128 GB data space. A 4,100 mAh battery, with Quick Charge 3.0, will handle all the power requirements of the phone.

Additionally, according to GSM Arena, the upcoming smartphone will arrive with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor built into the glass, and it will also contain a secondary biometric security option, an Iris scanner. It will also include a USB Type-C port, instead of the mini USB. The device will also feature Xiaomi Pay, NFC, and a dual-band WiFi connection.

Pricewise, the 4GB/64 GB model will have a price tag of RMB 2,800 (approx. $415), while the 6 GB/128 GB variant is placed at RMB 3,000 (approx. $445). The higher model was earlier rumored to carry an RMB 5,700 (approx. $845) price tag.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to be launched on Oct. 25.
