After introducing its affordable Redmi 2, Chinese tech firm Xiaomi is expected to showcase its flagship device on Jan. 15. However, tech enthusiasts are left guessing as to which smartphone would enter the spotlight at the event, as it has been rumored that the company plans to release three smartphones this year, with the frst one already put on display.

However, thanks to a leak, it can be surmised that the Mi 5 will take centerstage at the event. The leak, which came in the form of a blueprint, revealed new details about the device, particularly its thickness. If the leaked information proves to be accurate, then Xiaomi's Mi 5 will sport a thickness of only 5.1 mm, making it the slimmest smartphone ever. The handset will exceed the likes of Apple's iPhone 6 as well as Oppo's R5, which was proclaimed to be the slimmest smartphone ever.

The flagship device is said to be 140.89 mm long and 71.4 mm wide. The blueprint leak also suggests that the Mi 5 will bear a strong resemblance to LG's G2. In terms of display, the Xiaomi's upcoming offering will possess a 5.2-inch screen that will render a quad-HD display (2560 by 1440 pixels).

As far as the remaining hardware specifications are concerned, no other details were revealed except that the Mi 5 would support 64-bit architecture. Given the fact that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 does not possess a 64-bit capable CPU, the only other candidate is the Snapdragon 810 and a variety of lesser performing chipsets. But since Xiaomi's Mi 5 belongs to the higher performing category of smartphones, it would not make sense for the company to incorporate a chipset bearing a lower performing 64-bit capable processor.

At any rate, fans only have to wait a few more days until Xiaomi finally unveils its new device.
