Xiaomi Redmi 2 was always poised to make an impression on the tech world. Although released just last month (and it certainly did not fail to get noticed), the handset has already spawned what the company likes to call an Enhanced Edition. The overhaul was done on the inside — its internal memory ramped up to 2 GB and its storage capacity to 16 GB.

The device came out early January and it only had 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB storage capacity. It was supplemented with a card slot, which allows consumers to boost up the handset's memory to as much as 32 GB. Although fitting for such an affordable handset, many find this area a bit of a downer.

Xiaomi is not wasting any time to cart off these woes as they are now bringing in a bigger and better Xiaomi Redmi 2 mere weeks after the smartphone's unveiling. It doubled the RAM and the ROM of the device, palpably displaying its passion to cater to the needs of its customers.

And what better way to celebrate its Spring Festival than putting the Enhanced Edition of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 on sale in its home turf, China, for 799 Yuan. So that's from Feb. 13 to 25, just in time for the Chinese New Year. Basically, the superior model puts an additional 100 Yuan on the price of the original Xiaomi Redmi 2, which was unveiled with a 699 Yuan ($128 or £84) price tag.

Other than the memory jump, buyers of the device would enjoy Xiaomi Redmi 2's 4.7-inch IPS display (rendering 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and 312 ppi pixel density) as well as its 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It also features a 2-megapixel selfie shooter as well as LTE connectivity and dual SIM support. It runs Android KitKat 4.4.4 skinned with MIUI 6.0 and is loaded with a 2200 mAh battery.

India is also likely to get the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition as it has become the company's second largest market. Its previous devices were a hit in the country (Xiaomi Redmi 1S even making a comeback to the place), and with this easy on the pocket premium device out by Friday in the Republic, India should get itself all primed for the Redmi 2 Enhanced Edition's expected arrival.
