Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro release date: Phablet specs and features to expect

Xiaomi has somehow fallen out of the race when it comes to highly demanded alternative smartphones in the market, and much of that was due to the limited units that were made available for its Xiaomi Mi 4c.

While the marketing ploy is nothing new, a recourse that companies in China have been doing (remember the invite-only tactic of OnePlus?), the fortunes on Xiaomi's end have not exactly panned out to satisfy their business outlook when one thinks about market share concerns. As bared by research firm Canalys via Xinhua news, Huawei overtook Xiaomi as China's number one smartphone vendor for the third quarter of 2015.

All that could, however, change soon once the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro comes out in the open. The device was launched back in August but now, rumors are ripe that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 successor may soon be out in the open.

This comes after reports that the Xiaomi Redmi Mi Note 2 Pro got certification from China, leading many to believe that the device will be out in a couple of weeks. Could it help the company reclaim its spot after being dislodged by Huawei?

As far as the device is concerned, it will carry pretty much the same specs found in its predecessor. Such include a 5.5-inch full HD display with Gorilla Glass protection, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage that is expandable though the microSD card slot.

Now, if that is not enough, there is another variant also coming out with a higher 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage.

Other features for the Xiaomi Redmi Mi Note 2 Pro include a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. It will bank on a 3,060 mAh battery and will be equipped with Android 5.1 with MIUI 7 out of the box.

Further interesting features include a Fingerprint sensor (located at the back of the device). This will be Xiaomi's first device to carry the added security feature. Capping up everything is it metal body design, a lush design that should capture the attention of design-conscious smartphone owners.
