Apple's introduction of incorporating a Type-C USB port for its 2015 MacBook has driven other tech firms to start adding the same reversible connector to its products. One of those companies happens to be none other than rising Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi. The company has become popular for pricing powerful smartphones at very affordable rates, thus allowing it to climb the industry's rank at a very quick pace.

Now it appears that the company is rumored to be working on another handset that has been codenamed H3Y. According to information posted on GizChina, Xiaomi H3Y is also being rumored to being called Redmi Note 2.

The website states that the handset is going to feature a Type-C USB port coupled with MediaTek's powerful MT6795 SoC, which is sufficient indication that the smartphone is going to be placed in between the middle and high-end smartphone category. Since MediaTek's chipsets feature a low cost variable, the Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturing company has become a hot favorite for Chinese smartphone makers such as Xiaomi and Vivo.

The source also states that Xiaomi H3Y is going to possess a 5.5 inch screen size and will be running Google's Android Lollipop 5.0 update 'out of the box'. Similar to all Xiaomi smartphones, this one will also be running the company's customized interface. Due to the handset's unique placement in the smartphone category, it is expected that the 5.5 inch screen size will be rendering the 1080p resolution and will come packing with a 13 MP/5 MP camera combo.

However, since rumors often have a tendency to be debunked shortly after being leaked, it is possible that this one shares the same fate. Additional information concerning the company's rumored handset will be stated once it has been made available. For now, consumers can look forward to Xiaomi's affordable Mi 4i handset, along with the firm's Mi Note Pro, which is its flagship offering.
