Xiaomi and Samsung both released their newest phablets – the Redmi Note 2 and the Galaxy Note 5, respectively. According to Gadget NDTV, Xiaomi sold 800,000 units of their latest product in just half a day. Samsung's newest Note iteration, on the other hand, easily outperforms its predecessor. 

Both boast redoubtable specs and amazing features, but which is the better flagship? 

In terms of display, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display, relatively smaller than that of Galaxy Note 5, which features a bigger 5.7-inch Quad HD screen. Not only is the latter's display larger, it is also sharper.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 uses an octa-core Mediatek MT6795 processor. Samsung's Note flagship has an Exynos 7420 processor under its hood, the same unit the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge owe their stellar performance from. 

Xiaomi offers 32 GB and 64 GB models of the Redmi Note 2, with 2 GB RAM to keep things steady. Meanwhile, although Samsung ditched a microSD slot for the Galaxy Note 5, the phablet is made available in 32, 64 and 128 GB versions, all complemented with RAM that's double the amount of that in Xiaomi's. 

In the imaging department, Xiaomi's offering looks inferior with its 13 MP (with autofocus and LED flash) primary camera when put side by side the new Note's 16-megapixel rear shooter (with OIS, autofocus and LED flash). Both should take great selfies with their 5-megapixel front-facing snappers. 

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 has Android 5.0 Lollipop on board while the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has Android 5.1.1 Lollipop straight out of the box. 

In terms of the pricing, the Chinese company ties up a small $169 price tag on the Redmi Note 2. On Aug. 24, the company will conduct its second flash sale of the device. As for the Galaxy Note 5, the pricing for the 32 GB variant starts at around $700.
