Patrons of the Chinese smartphone best-seller hint that a new Xiaomi Redmi Note is in the works. The Redmi Note 4 (and 3) was big hit for many Indians mainly because of its budget-friendly price tag.

However, more than its production announcement, users of the phone brand are expecting a significant upgrades for the next model and to be more precise, a dual-camera at the rear end of the device. Dual rear cameras can take photos at a wide range and far distances with very satisfying image quality. This could be a good move for the company since its competitors like the HTC U11 and Motorola Moto X4 will be using such hardware for their units. The only difference is that these two models will be twice as pricey as the Redmi Note 5.

One other major upgrade expected to come to the Redmi Note 5 is the new octa-core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. This upper mid-range chipset seems a bit costly for a smartphone that is still aiming for the budget segment of the market. If pulled off successfully, this will be a first milestone for the Chinese smartphone maker.

The Redmi Note 4 used the Snapdragon 630, but the unit before that used the 650 variant. This chipset made the Redmi Note 3 the most bought unit in the Note series of the Redmi.

Just like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 5 will be running at a 3 GB or 4 GB memory with 32 GB or 64 GB storage capacity. The company plans to have a full HD display at 5.5 inches on 1080p screen resolution. A 4,000mAh battery will be placed in for the upcoming model. The Redmi Note 5 is also expected to be using a USB-Type C port for connecting to computers.

Pricing and market availability of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is yet to be announced by the company.
