Word on the street is that Xiaomi's Redmi Note is getting a successor. Rumors went at top gear after an alleged image leak of the Redmi Note 2 sprouted on the Internet. Many tech outlets are growing skeptical about the image, which sports the smartphone's shooter at the uppermost part of its shiny black rear. Despite the qualms, some still believe that the Redmi Note 2 will be a thing of the imminent future. While debates are still ongoing, speculations already suggest that the Redmi Note 2 is well underway. The buzz is so strong that possible specifications set to come with the alleged handset are all over the Internet.

The focus of the leaked image is the camera, which is purported to either be 8 megapixels or 13 megapixels. GSM Arena bets on the former, although the site itself doubts the authenticity of the image. In addition, Franchise Herald reports that the upcoming handset will be powered up by a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor but it may also be a MediaTek MT6595 octa-core processor, something in line with its future forerunner. Kpop Starz thinks that it's more of the latter, adding that the mainframe will have four Cortex-A17 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores should it be the one the handset will house. The Redmi Note 2 is also expected to sport a 5.5-inch display with a 1080 pixel resolution. NDTV, as cited by Kpop Starz, reports the integration of a 3500 mAh battery and a larger storage capacity, particularly 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.

The Redmi Note, which was released this year, was a huge hit in Taiwan. According to Kpop Starz, the chartbuster Android phone will be available in India soon, as per Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra. With the success of the Redmi Note, it is not at all impossible that the so-called "Apple of China" already has its future frontrunner in the pipeline. Franchise Herald also mentioned the company's plans to build another Android device that will feature a 720P display, a 2 GHz processor and 1 GB RAM. Should it hit the market in the near future, it will only cost $65.
