Xiaomi is going to announce its newest flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 6, this week. There are rumors that the Chinese company may also launch another device along with it.

A few days ago, Xiaomi confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 6 is going to be announced on Wednesday, April 19, at the Beijing University of Technology gymnasium. However, the event may not be entirely dedicated to the new flagship as Android Headlines reports that a "source" hinted at the possibility of the Chinese company also unveiling the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 on the same event.

Aside from this information, the source also reportedly reveals the features, specifications, and price of the upcoming phablets.

It reveals that the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will come in two variants, one powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 chipset, while the other is engineered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. Both processors are targeted at the mid-range market, but the latter is expected to be about 10 percent powerful than the former.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 devices are to come in a 6.44-inch screen display with full high definition (HD) resolution. The upcoming handsets are expected to come with 5,000 mAh battery that will make them last for a few days. In addition, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 phablets are anticipated to come with the Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, along with its own Xiaomi user interface.

As for the cost, the device carrying the Snapdragon 626 processor is anticipated to be priced at 1,499 Yuan or about $215, while the phablet coming with Snapdragon 660 chipset is said to be a little more expensive at 1,699 Yuan or about $245.

Earlier this week, there was a leak from GFXBench test regarding the specifications of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. The results suggest that the upcoming phablet may come with 4 GB of random access memory (RAM), along with 128 GB of internal memory. As for its camera, the upcoming phablet is anticipated to feature 12-megapixel front shooter with 4K video recording capability, along with five-megapixel front snapper.

Fans will still have to take these pieces of information with a grain of salt until April 19.
