Sony may be primed to make an early splash in next year's smartphone market by launching the Xperia Z6 line as early as February.

Sony has yet to announce anything official when it comes to the possible arrival of the Xperia Z6, although rumors over the past few months have suggested that the new line could be one of the company's main attractions at the upcoming Mobile World Congress.

The Mobile World Congress will be taking place from Feb. 22 to 25 in Barcelona, Spain so that means that the Xperia Z6 line could make its first appearance early into next year, according to Blorge.

Another potential reason to subscribe to the belief that the new Sony smartphone line is the unofficial yet often followed six month pattern. Sony has developed a habit of releasing their new devices every six months and if that continues, then February would indeed be the time for the Xperia Z6 to arrive.

Some rumors have even put forth the possibility that Sony could hold off on launching the Xperia Z6 line at the Mobile World Congress in lieu of holding their own event to celebrate the release of the new smartphone.

Other rumors suggest a timeline a little further back than February for the Xperia Z6.

Instead of debuting in February, the release of the new smartphone line may be pushed back into the middle of 2016.

According to Digital Trends, Sony may be planning to release different variants of the Xperia Z6 line at different points in the year. Sony may, for instance, decide to launch one variant of the Xperia Z6 in June and then release another one later on in October.

The good news for people looking to get their hands on the new smartphone is that more official news about the Xperia Z6 should be known within the first quarter of 2016.
