PlayStation 4 (PS4) players better get ready for a shakedown Yakuza-style, as "Yakuza Kiwami 2" now has a free 9.89-gigabyte (GB) demo version available in Japan.

The demo for "Yakuza Kiwami 2" will let players check out the earliest levels of the game, though they will be limited to the main story only. It was not specified how much of the full game the demo will let players experience. The size of the demo, however, may be an indication that there is plenty to enjoy before the eventual release of the full game in December.

The game is developed and published by Sega, and it is a direct sequel to the acclaimed "Yakuza Kiwami." In the original game, players get to step in the shoes of a Yakuza enforcer, letting them do gang-related activities ranging from shakedowns and extortions, or brawling, gambling and other distractions. This all happens in an open-world playground. It has not yet been announced whether "Yakuza Kiwami 2" will get a western release and localization, but website Twinfinite suggests it will judging by how popular the game is in Europe and US.

Sadly, those outside Japan may have a difficult time getting hold of the demo, as it might be region-locked. Still, the demo is now available for download. Should the players somehow manage to get access, the language for the game might be in Japanese, so persistent western players may want to keep that in mind. Also, because of this, the controls may be different, as the "X" and "O" buttons for the PS4 controller have reversed roles in Japan.

Meanwhile, players in the west wanting their Yakuza fix can avail of the previous "Yakuza Kiwami" while waiting for an English version, provided they have a PS4. "Yakuza Kiwami 2" is set to be released on Dec. 7 only for the PS4 and for Japan at the moment.
