'Yoshi's Woolly World' news: Huge Mega Yarn Yoshi amiibo coming this fall

Mega Yarn Yoshi AmiiboNintendo

Nintendo is going to release an extra-large version of their Yarn Yoshi amiibo this fall. The Mega Yarn Yoshi amiibo stands roughly three times the size of the regular one, but retains the plushy design of its smaller counterpart. The amiibo chip is now located under one of its feet instead of its base.

However, the Mega Yarn Yoshi amiibo does not offer any added features. Using either the large iteration or the smaller ones will net gamers the same results: an extra Yoshi that can be controlled simultaneously in the upcoming "Yoshi's Woolly World" video game for the Wii-U.

It will cost $40 in North America, more than twice the cost of the regular-sized Yarn Yoshi figures, which currently retain a $17 suggested retail price. This may be a bit disappointing for some fans since the added price does not offer added features, but the Mega Yarn Yoshi Amiibo will certainly appeal to amiibo collectors.

According to a report from Nintendo Life, the Mega Yarn Yoshi amiibo figure will be release on Nov. 15 in North America, Nov. 27 in Europe, and Nov. 28 for both New Zealand and Australia.

"Yoshi's Woolly World" has been available in Europe for some time now, and is scheduled to come to the U.S. by Oct. 15. The game plays similar to "Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island" but it is now set in a world where the landscape and characters are made of yarn. In the game, Yoshi must save his friends from the evil wizard Kamek.

The Mega Yarn Yoshi's wasn't the only amiibo release date announced. According to a report from Polygon, the delayed Mii Fighters (from "Super Smash Bros. 4") will be released on Nov. 1 in a three-pack that will cost $35, while the Mewtwo amiibo will be released on Nov. 13. The Flaco amiibo is now scheduled for release on Nov. 20.
