The eight title in the "Ys" series, "Lacrimosa of Dana," was released more than a year ago for the consoles. However, as it is first a Japanese role-playing video game, translations have to be made. While usually, this should not be a problem, the English version of the game annoyed fans as the translation was horrible.

Fortunately, several months into the sloppy English version release of the game for the consoles, the PC version will have a much better translation. The months-long delay for the PC gave the developers and translators time to do a total rework of the English version. It will be released for the PC on Jan. 30 via Steam.

Although other games that are translated can be easily played with inaccurate English translations, story-driven games like the "Ys" games need to have accurate wording. Stories will definitely rely on how words are said, and anyone, not just gamers, may have a hard time appreciating and understanding a story told with horrible grammar, no matter what the language is.

There is also a bonus download for those who get the game within the first week of the game's PC release. Bonuses include a mini art book, "Adol's Adventure Essentials," a soundtrack sampler, and an "Eternian Scholar" Laxia costume all for free, as per Newburgh Gazette.

For those who have not seen or played "Ys" games yet, it features a main character named Adol Christin. The series has revolved around him since the very first game back in 1987. Although it has been 30 years since then, Adol has not changed. As Adol, players will visit cities, meet locals, and beat unknown evil spirits prowling about the city.

The console versions for "Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana" was originally released last July 21, 2016. The Steam versions to be released on Jan. 30 will cost around $60. Previous "Ys" games are also available and are currently cheaper due to the Steam Winter sale which will end soon. A Nintendo Switch version of the game will also be coming out during the summer.
