'Yume Nikki: Dream Diary' update: Creepy reboot to release on Feb. 23

"Yume Nikki: Dream Diary," the reboot of the 2004-cult horror game "Yume Nikki" by Kikiyama, is set to release on Feb. 23.

"Yume Nikki: Dream Diary," developed by Kadokawa Corporation and Active Gaming Media (AGM) Inc. and published by AGM Playism, is scheduled to release on Steam and Playism on Feb. 23 for $19.99. According to the Steam page of the game, the reboot was made under the full supervision of Kikiyama. The reboot will also feature a combination of the original game's influences as well independent games' juggernauts.

The page also indicated the minimum and recommended Windows system requirements for the upcoming reboot. The minimum system requirements are as follows — operating system (OS): Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required); processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz, AMD FX 8120 @ 3.1 GHz; memory: 4 GB RAM; graphics: NVIDIA GT 630 / 650m; AMD Radeon HD6570; HD Graphics 4000 (or equivalent); DirectX: Version 9.0c; storage: 4 GB available space and sound card: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card. The recommended system requirements, on the other hand, are as follows — OS: Windows 8/10 (64-bit OS required); processor: Intel i7 920 @ 2.7 GHz, AMD Phenom II 945 @ 3.0 GHz; memory: 8 GB RAM; graphics: NVIDIA GTX 660, Radeon R9-270; DirectX: Version 11; storage: 4 GB available space and sound card: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card.

"Yume Nikki: Dream Diary" will feature a teenage hikkikomori. According to Comic Book, hikkikomori is the Japanese term for people who choose to shut themselves away from society. They prefer to live an isolated life which is one usually in front of a computer screen. In the original game, players explore the dreams of Madotsuki, the name of the teenage hikkikomori.

The trailer for the upcoming release of "Yume Nikki: Dream Diary" titled "Prologue" was already released and ready for viewing.
