Zayn Malik will be making his debut as a solo artist in an upcoming episode of "The Tonight Show." Nearly a year after leaving One Direction, the singer will perform on Jimmy Fallon's late night show on Feb. 17 and it is expected that he will be performing his first single, "Pillowtalk," which was released last month.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Malik is listed only as a musical guest and it is unclear whether he will be sitting down with Fallon for an interview.

His appearance on the NBC show will also mark his first televised performance since leaving the British boy band. Last month, he was slated to appear on "The Graham Norton Show" for what would have been his first televised interview since leaving the band, but a rep for the singer told Daily Mail that he canceled "due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts with recording commitments." The Daily Record reported that hundreds of Malik's fans had already lined up outside the studio when they got word that the 23-year-old won't be appearing on the show.

Malik left One Direction in March 2015 and announced that he was leaving the band to live life like a "normal 22-year-old." It was speculated that he was going to pursue a career as a solo artist, and Malik himself confirmed this when he took to his Twitter account last June to tell his fans that he has signed up with RCA.

"Pillowtalk" was released on Jan. 29, and his album, "Mind of Mine," will be released on March 25. Interestingly, his album will be launched exactly one year after One Direction released a statement saying that the singer had left the band.

"Pillowtalk" got the number 1 spot on the Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks chart dated Feb. 13, and the music video which co-stars Malik's girlfriend Gigi Hadid has been viewed more than 58 million times so far on YouTube.
