Netflix's "13 Reasons Why" adds more reasons for fans to question the show's characters and their involvement in a tragic teenage suicide. This time around, the show's upcoming second season will expand on the character Alex (Miles Heizer) and his background.

It can be recalled that the finale of the first season of "13 Reasons Why" saw Alex in a failed suicide attempt, who despite living through his suicide, is now in critical condition at the hospital since he shot himself in the head after being unable to bear the guilt from Hannah's (Jay Asher) suicide. Alex believed that he had a hand in Hannah's death since he was mentioned in one of Hannah's elaborate suicide tapes where he created a list causing Hannah to be shamed and ridiculed publicly.

Heizer, Alex's actor, then revealed that there was more to his character than portrayed in season 1, which is something that will be explored in the upcoming season. He stated in an interview that there were indeed similarities between Alex and Hannah, and perhaps not just because they now have both committed suicide.

"I think [the taboo topics] are kind of in the same amount as the first season. We're just talking about real issues that people don't talk about that much, but I feel like are actually talking about more, especially right now in our culture. I think this season's gonna be very relevant. I'm excited for it to come out and for people to see what's going on," said Heizer in an interview with Us Weekly.

With this in mind, it seems the second season will deal more about the social issues that caused Hannah to commit suicide leading to the aftermath of her death and its impact on the people she has been associated with. In addition to Alex being in the spotlight in the second season, her mother would also be a part of the cast now that her son has been the first of many fallout incidents of Hannah's suicide.

Fans might have to wait a while though, since "13 Reasons Why" does not have a release date yet.
