Speculations suggest that the next trade session will see DeMarcus Cousins leaving the Sacramento Kings as early as next month.
According to analyst Sean Deveney, while trading rumors for DeMarcus Cousins have been going on for years, it seems that Sacramento Kings is finally willing to let him go this time. Supposedly, the center and power forward will be on the trading block as early as December, as per speculations of NBA executives. A league insider allegedly told the industry follower that the earlier the deal goes off, the better for the Kings and any team that will get Cousins. "Probably more like a month, or month-and-a-half, because the closer they get to the (February trade) deadline, the less they're going to get back. If you're trying to trade him the week of the deadline, it's going to be tougher," a general manager said.
Cousins has been one of the more active players off the Kings' bench. Considered to be one of the top offensive players in the league, Cousins' current average includes 26.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists a game. However, it has yet to translate for a winning run for the Kings, which has a current 4-7 standing. Prior to the active season, the Kings had 164-328 (.333) standing.
The center and power forward has been a two-time All-Star member, and has been with the Kings since 2010. One year shy of his current contract, Cousins' current deal has been inked for $17 million for this year, and an increase to $18 million in the next season.
Meanwhile, in terms of trade rumors, also joining the speculations are reports of Klay Thompson being dropped out of the Golden State Warriors (GSW) ticket. However, it has been noted that the supposed news reports are just hearsay, as the GSW has yet to come out with trade details for any of its active members.
