A new model of the Honda Ridgeline will be introduced at the 2016 North American International Auto Show happening in January in Detroit.

The next generation of Ridgeline is the fourth light truck model that has been given a new look and it is expected to be seen on the roads nationwide in the first half of 2016, according to Honda's press release.

AutoWeek noted that the Ridgeline will do away with its angled body seen in the first-generation model, which makes the 2017 Ridgeline adopt a barrel body shape. The overall design gives the truck a more conventional look.

"We developed this new Honda Ridgeline to offer something new and fundamentally better suited to the way many buyers use their truck," Jeff Conrad, senior vice president and general manager of the Honda Division, said in a statement.

"Ridgeline will deliver everything you'd expect in a Honda from incredible packaging and fuel-efficiency to top safety technologies and innovative, segment-first features," Conrad added.

Just like its predecessor, which was also unveiled in the same event back in 2005, Ridgeline was developed and designed by Honda R&D Americas, Inc., and the truck's engine will be produced by Lincoln-based Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, Inc.

The unveiling of the 2017 Ridgeline will be live-streamed at Honda's website on Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at 1:15 p.m. EST.

Meanwhile, after the launch of Ridgeline in the event, it will make another appearance to millions of viewers on television the following month.

On Feb. 7, 2016, Sunday, Ridgeline will be given a 60-second TV spot during the third quarter of the Super Bowl, giving all of America an inside preview of the upcoming Ridgeline model.

"The big game is the largest and most coveted stage to show the world that Honda is back in a big way with an all-new Ridgeline truck," Conrad said in the press release.

The Ridgeline's TV spot will be Honda brand's first official ad to be featured in the most-watched sports event of the year.
