2017 Lincoln MKZ release date: Car expected late July; optional upgrade to twin-turbo V6 engine

2017 Lincoln MKZ Lincoln Motor Company

The updated 2017 Lincoln MKZ sports an altered design from previous models, showcasing a few revisions to keep it in line with the similar, sleeker-looking Ford Fusion. As stated in a report from Auto Guide, it is also a little less expensive than the last iteration and is now expected to release in late summer.

The 2017 Lincoln MKZ starts with a base build that comes with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that pushes out 240 HP but this can be upgraded for a twin-turbo V6 engine capable of 350 HP and 400 foot-pound of torque. Consumers have the option for either the standard front-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive powerhouse.

Unfortunately, while the base price is roughly over $100 cheaper than the 2016 model the same cannot be said once the optional features and accessories are added onto it. As stated in a report from Car and Driver, the final price when everything is added onto the highest trim level can cost a consumer up to $60,000.

It is pointed out that with 400 foot-pound of torque it is surprising that the Lincoln MKZ offers front-wheel drive to begin with. With the all-wheel drive option the car can even push up to 400 HP which is a little more than what most luxury car owners require but it is a good incentive for those who want more power.

On paper the design of the Lincoln MKZ's chassis should not be able to withstand too much power as it is designed for a sleek and elegant payout but the report states that the V-6 All-Wheel Drive version of the car comes with several chassis tweaks to rectify these problems. Some of these tweaks include stiffer suspensions and Ford's torque-vectoring system.

No specific release date has yet been announced for the 2017 Lincoln MKZ but it is expected to be released by late summer, aiming for a potential late July launch.
