2017 Porsche Panamera release date news: Car to have its Europe release later this year before U.S. rollout

Despite its launch later this year in Europe, the recently announced 2017 Porsche Panamera won't be ready for a drive in the U.S. this year and even the next, the company's chief Klaus Zellmer for its North America division said.

Zellmer had no specific details to offer on the release of the Panamera in the region but one thing he was sure of is that customers in the U.S. won't be seeing the hatchback next year.

Porsche, however, will be ready to lift the veil off the 2017 Porsche Panamera to show off its new look in September during the Paris auto show. Customers in Europe should be able to purchase the car shortly after that.

Although typically sold in Europe, the wagon is expected to perform well in the U.S. especially if the 2017 Porsche Panamera ends up getting a fifth seat, a tweak that Porsche is mulling over doing and the US dealers are after.

For now, Zellmer requests everyone to patiently wait for the arrival of the new Porsche Panamera. "We have to have some patience for [the wagon] to arrive in the U.S.," Zelmer told Automotive News.

"But we are confident that this car will be well received here, despite the fact that this country doesn't really like hatchbacks or wagons," he went on to say.

Just recently, The Fast Lane Car spotted the 2017 Porsche Panamera on a test drive in Colorado. The wagon, which Porsche did not even care much to disguise this time, looked sleeker and sexy as compared to the first-generation Panamera.

Despite the efforts of Porsche to hide the taillights of the car, The Fast Lane Car saw it had look like the one on the Porsche 911. It also dons a new and cooler looking rear-wing and front end.

According to Carscoops, the Panamera generated the poorest sales performance for Porsche. However, Zellmer hopes to turn that around with the new 2017 Porsche Panamera.
