Easter is all about celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, and reflecting on the path of the cross that Jesus took for us, and the love and sacrifice given for us by Christ.

Christians all over the world are preparing to celebrate Easter Sunday and the resurrection, and this is a great time to play and listen to worship songs about Easter. With more and more artists putting a contemporary twist on classic hymns, it will be good to hear some new Christian tracks to add to your celebration. Here are five songs (a mix of old and new) to add in your Easter playlist.

1. The Cross Forever Speaks – Matt Maher

Matt Maher is one of the go-to musicians for worship songs. He has written songs that landed on the most favorite playlist of many Christians out there. Last Easter 2017, his song "Because He Live (Amen)" was another well-lovd song. This year, it's "The Cross Forever Speaks." This song captures the essence of Easter and is a great addition to your playlist or even in your praise and worship at church.

2. Clean – Natalie Grant and Urshan College

Natalie Grant's "Clean" is a touching song about Jesus dying on the cross to cleanse our sins. It is a soft, beautiful ballad that can easily touch any one's heart. This year, Urshan College made their own version that's more appropriate for gospel choir or congregational singing. The song tells the story of redemption, God's mercy and grace. Don't forget to listen to this song this weekend.

3. How Can It Be? - Lauren Daigle

"How Can It Be?" was the 2015 GMA Dove Awards Song Of The Year and it's no wonder why we still love it three years later. The song is every bit of beautiful. It's a great praise and worship song that focuses on the cross. When listening to this song, you'll remember what Jesus did for us and why Easter is an important day to celebrate. Put this on your playlist now.

4. Because He Lives – Gaithers

This song isn't exactly new, but it has occupied a special place in the hearts of Christians. It's a song that talks about our lives and what Jesus being alive means for us. Matt Maher also lent some words to this song, which makes it extra special. If you like some old soul in your songs, this one is for you.

5. O Praise The Name – Hillsong

Back in 2015, Hillsong released "O Praise The Name" on Easter Day. The lyrics are very simple, but can easily tug at the heartstrings. The song talks about Jesus on the cross, resurrection and the wait for when Christ will come back. It's also a good song to make you reflect this Easter season.

Some people like to spend their time reading books to reflect. For some, they prefer listening to Christian songs. If you're the latter, then these five songs will no doubt be a great addition in your playlist.
