Fans of Disney animation movies all have that one question to live-action directors — is it going to be a musical? With the recent success of "Beauty and the Beast," people are now asking if the next Disney classic to be remade is going to take the same genre. To answer this question, "Aladdin" live-action director, Guy Ritchie, sat down with Nerdist.

According to the director, he is keeping the music alive. The 1992 Disney animation classic "Aladdin" might just be a musical. He told the Nerdist that "it'd be tough not to make it a musical."

However, fans will have to wait a little longer as he revealed that it is still "too early" to say anything with regard to film direction. He added that this is because the movie has yet to come together and there are more things that need to be done.

Ritchie explained, "I've really just immersed myself into that project. So I'm still looking for cast members, we still haven't found exactly which direction we're going in. I'm confident that at some stage it will reveal itself to me, but right now it's just a bit too premature."

Another interview seems to make the musical a possibility, as Disney production head Sean Bailey shared more on "Aladdin" last April.

In an interview with Vulture, he described the film as "a highly energized Guy Ritchie Disney Musical." He also explained that Ritchie wants to honor the animated film, saying, "When we talked about Aladdin, he said, 'My stories are really about street hustlers. That's what I know how to do. And Aladdin is a classic street hustler who makes good.' Guy's got his own version of that story in his life. But he wanted to honor and respect the Disney of it all."

Baily added, "We never want to feel like we have a playbook to these things because we worry it'll make us creatively complacent."

With all these "Aladdin" live action movie news, maybe it is just a matter of time before fans get an update about casting, story, and overall direction of the movie.

The live-action remake of "Aladdin" is reportedly set to start production this July.
