It appears that the world of technology is too small, as a competitor is bound to appear anytime. Such is the case for AMD's Zen CPU architecture, which apparently could potentially pose a threat to an Intel-dominated market.

Netizens first got a glimpse of benchmark results for the AMD Zen from Dresdenboy's blog post. Despite the screenshot being taken down, it has been making rounds on the Internet, showing the leaked capacity of the high-powered processor.

WCCFTech also illustrated the specifications of the Naples platform, showing an 8M of the cache connected to a four-cored CPU complex. Considering it was an engineering sample, it didn't produce mind-blowing results that could rival that of Intel, although it presents some potential.

The Zen is characterized to have more power efficiency, thus it is rumored to become a powerhouse once the product is complete. It will be using tinier chips than its AMD predecessors, and it is expected to have 40 percent more performance scalability, Game N' Guide has learned.

The advantage of the Kaby Lake processor, however, comes from its timing. Most of the existing and up-and-coming high-powered laptops have Intel's processor, giving more popularity. AMD processors, however, have made a niche in the gaming arena, making tech junkies the biggest audience of the upcoming Zen architecture.

The Zen's advantage, on the other hand, is on its affordability. Although not necessarily cheap, it has a price that's competitive yet reasonable in the market, Digital Trends reports.

The biggest test, probably, will be on the reliability of the processor. It will also depend on the expected use, whether it is for gaming or high-end projects that would require quick response and efficiency from the CPU.

Techies will have to wait until sometime next year for the AMD's release before a definitive comparison can be made between the Zen and the Kaby Lake.
