Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for LG G2, Galaxy S4 begins: US rollout schedule from Samsung and LG expected soon

The Android 4.4 KitKat update has begun rolling out to users in Korea over the last few days, and is available with ART (Android RunTime) support. Users would be able to switch between ART and Dalvik.

The Android 4.4 KitKat update for the LG G2 is overdue, after the Korean company announced that updates will begin rolling out at the end of January 2014.

So far, international users outside of South Korea have yet to receive the latest software update by LG.

Although the international update schedule for the LG G2 KitKat remains vague, the software update for other LG devices such as the G Pro is expected at the end of June.

Meanwhile, Samsung has finally made available the latest Android 4.4 KitKat update to Galaxy S4 LTE-A users in Korea. This update is for handsets with the Snapdragon 800 chip and is available over-the-air (OTA) or to download via Kies.

The latest updates will allow a faster Touchwiz UI and faster RAM.

Now that the update has finally begun rolling out to Galaxy S4 users in South Korea, an international rollout schedule is expected very soon.

Last month, Android 4.4.2 KitKat software leaked for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3 devices on the AT&T cellular network.

This leaked version of the Android 4.4.2 2 for the Samsung devices popped up early January and is for the Note 3 with firmware number N900AUCECMLG.

Galaxy Note 3 owners in Europe were the first to receive the new Android 4.4.2 firmware update but not before users complained of incompatibility issues with third party accessories.

Although the international update to the Note 3 has already started in Europe, there is still no official word on when the firmware upgrade will be available to Note 3 owners in the U.S.
