Samsung Galaxy Note 4 gets Android Marshmallow sooner than thought?

Previously, it was reported that the Galaxy Note 4 will receive its Android Marshmallow update early next year. This was based on a supposed schedule roadmap, apparently an internal document from Samsung that leaked online. In the schedule, the Galaxy Note 4 is supposed to receive its official Android 6.0 OTA update by February.

However, it seems that Samsung already has the Android 6.0 version for the Galaxy Note 4 already prepared, as speculations suggest that the South Korean tech giant has started rolling out the update in select locations.

According to SamMobile, an editor for website Napidroid apparently received an update for the Galaxy Note 4 device, and that the build is not a flashed one. The report features a screenshot of the supposed build with the version number N910FXXU1DOL3X.

Meanwhile, Mobile Burn mentioned that the update was not for select Galaxy Note 4 units but rather was based on location. Reportedly, the update was for the Hungarian version of the Samsung flagship. However, it is unclear if the update rollout was done as a soak test for the Android Marshmallow version and was done deliberately.

According to Android Community, it is more than likely that Samsung rolled out the Android 6.0 version to the Galaxy Note 4 by mistake. The website stated that the South Korea-based company will put the new platform update first in more recent flagship devices, before rolling it out to older ones. This has been the highlighted detail in the schedule roadmap that was leaked weeks ago.

In addition, Android Community also mentioned that it would be highly unlikely for Samsung to make a jump to Android 6.0 for the Galaxy Note 4 this early as some versions of the device in different regions have yet to receive the supposed Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.
