iWatch specs and features: Apple's latest gadget to debut in October?

The rumored Apple iWatch appears to be taking advantage of the hype received by the soon-to-be-released iPhone 6 later this year.

Sources claim that the Apple iWatch might make its debut sometime in October.

To bolster this claim, Apple has reportedly been meeting with former Nike FuelBand team members and TAG Heuer's sales director in preparation for the purported October launch.

As Apple's first attempt towards wearable technology, speculations have been flying since the news of an iWatch came out. Latest reports disclose that Apple might choose a design similar with that of the Motorola Moto 360, which is a round faced smart watch, but Apple's iWatch might opt for a slimmer figure.

However, other reports offer contradictory claims. Speculations reveal that the iWatch might take the shape and size of Apple's current-generation iPod nano. This means that the screen sizes may range anywhere near 2.5 inches diagonally. In contrast with the rumored round faced design, this alleged version is slightly rectangular. In addition, this rumored design is supposed to protrude a bit from a band to form an arch shape on the wrist. Both rumored versions agree that the Apple iWatch might be offering a durable crystal sapphire display.

The Apple iWatch might also come in three different styles. Two different sizes might be offered while one could possibly have a sapphire display.

The latest "fashionable" gadget is anticipated to be equipped with "full" iOS. This operating system will be employed to allow the device to perform its functions, such as receiving messages, voice calls, and other notifications.

Apart from being eyed as a companion device for the iPhone and iPad, the iWatch might pack health-related features. In this case, the users can use the iWatch to monitor the number of steps taken during the day, calories lost, sleep quality, and heart rate.

Hence, the iWatch might incorporate in its system Apple's latest health and fitness hub, the HealthKit. This allows users to display and monitor daily health stats. This added feature will be further utilized with Apple's plan to install 10 different sensors in the iWatch. In this manner, this gadget will aid in making health and fitness apps more accessible to the public.
