The first preview clip from the upcoming videogame film "Assassin's Creed" has just been released. Based on the new video, it looks like fans of the popular action-adventure videogame franchise are in for a cinematic treat.

Yesterday, 20th Century Fox released a short clip taken from the upcoming videogame film adaptation, "Assassin's Creed." Titled "Enter the Animus," the short preview gives viewers a glimpse of the cinematography and style of the upcoming film as it presents Michael Fassbender's character Callum Lynch being put under the Animus, a device that helps the death row inmate unlock and relive the memories of Aguilar, Lynch's ancestor from 15th century Spain.

Unlike the Animus in the videogames, the device viewers get to see in the video has been made more cinematic with Fassbender moving around the air as he is elevated by the machine. The Animus brings the inmate to a dramatic dive as the machine takes Lynch back to the memories of Aguilar.

A short descript of the film reads:

"Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day."

Meanwhile, in an interview with Lateline, Fassbender revealed that a lot of gravity-defying stunts had been incorporated in the film and that he himself had to do as much training as he could to play the part of Lynch.

"I did as much parkour training as I could in a short time, then just general sort of fitness levels," Fassbender said.

The actor indicated that while the high jumps and all the excessive stunts were done by professionals, he had to do many of the fighting scenes himself.

"Assassin's Creed" premieres on the big screen on Dec. 21, 2016.
