ASUS ZenFone 3 & ZenFone 3 Deluxe rumors: Renders leaked online; devices speculated to arrive during Computex 2016

The ZenFone 2 by ASUS was a great hit when it was released in March 2015. It was an inexpensive premium phone and the Taiwanese tech giant wants to replicate its success with its rumored ZenFone 3. The upcoming smartphone will be featuring two variants, the standard and a bigger screen model called ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

A rendered image of the highly speculated ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 3 Deluxe recently surfaced on a site called RedDot21, but as of this writing, the web page is not available anymore.

There is very little information available from the original post, but according to AndroidPolice, the supposed ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 3 Deluxe will come with an aluminum frame, sandwiched by a pair of 2.5D glass. A 2.5D glass offers a curved-edged design instead of a straight-edged corner, giving a handset a more stylish look.

It is also speculated that both phones will have a USB Type-C charging port, a fingerprint scanner, laser autofocus, and both the front and rear cameras will feature an LED flash. The rear LED is said to be offering a dual-tone mode.

The ZenFone 3, based on the image, seems to have its fingerprint sensor on the back, similar to LG's design, while the camera sports a square-shaped opening instead of a circular one, while the front shows three capacitive buttons. The image also displays the rumored phone in three colors: black, gold and white.

GSMArena stated that the alleged ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 3 Deluxe will be coming with an optional Smart Flip Cover, made of advanced fluorescent material. The phone's UI will try to illuminate the edge of the flip cover with different colors depending on the kind of notices the phone will receive.

The ZenFone 3 Deluxe, on the other hand, contains a physical home button on the front that may incorporate the fingerprint security feature, plus two more capacitive buttons beside the home button. However, nothing more was available from the original posting.

It is speculated that the ZenFone 3 will offer a 5.5-inch screen that offers a 1080 x 1920 pixel display resolution and a Snapdragon 650 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. The Deluxe variant will have a 5.9-inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixel HD resolution. It may or it may not come with the same processor and amount of RAM as its smaller variant.

Additionally, it is said that the ASUS ZenFone 3 series will have a 12MP main camera and an 9MP secondary camera. While the internal storage is pegged at 32GB, it may also contain a microSD slot for expansion option.

Rumors also suggest that ASUS may unveil their Zenfone 3s during the COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2016, set to happen in Taipei from May 31 to June 4.

ASUS has not officially uttered a word about the ZenFone 3 or ZenFone 3 Deluxe.
