'Avatar 2' release date: Rumored movie title, plot speculations and cast update

New updates have been released regarding the delay of James Cameron's award-winning sci-fi film "Avatar 2." 20th Century Fox

"Avatar 2," the sequel to the hit movie "Avatar," has been confirmed and it also has a release date, which will be in 2017, according to reports.

"Avatar" won't only have one sequel but will also introduce two more sequels after 'Avatar 2,' claimed Master Herald.

Film director James Cameron seems to have great plans for the movie franchise and there's just so much to do in order to surpass the original movie.

The sequel, rumored to carry the title "Avatar 2: Manifest Destiny," has been heavily tied to news about underwater scenes and several reports state that the setting will make most of the sequel.

In order to achieve compelling graphics for the movie, which will reportedly focus on the ocean life in Pandora, the production team is awaiting state-of-the-art technology just so motion sequences underwater will be best captured.

According to IMDB, the director even plans to shoot those scenes in the deepest spot on earth, the Marianas Trench.

Apart from the ocean ecosystem that's being planned, it was also reported by the Christian Post that the movie will feature a prison theme based on a poster released by artist Gökşan Özman.

Özman was responsible for the artistic output in movie posters from big films like "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Noah."

Meanwhile on cast updates, it was confirmed that Michelle Rodriguez will not be reprising her role in the upcoming movie and this was revealed by the actress herself.

During the Gabriela Cadena fashion show last Monday, Rodriguez told the New York Post that Cameron did not talk to her about coming back for the sequel.

The "Fast and Furious" actress insisted she won't be in the movie, although she's certain that Sigourney Weaver will make a comeback.

Weaver will apparently star again in the film, even though her character had been killed off in the original movie; but reports state that she will play a different character.

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, on the other hand, will also come back and reprise their roles.

"Avatar 2" is scheduled to be released on Christmas of 2017.
