James Cameron's 'Avatar' has swept audiences worldwide off their feet; thus, announcements of a sequel are surely closely watched by its avid fans. As it happens, the trip back to Pandora might take longer for a variety of reasons.

One of the possible reasons for the delay is a little controversial, as it has something to do with the actors having bad blood with Cameron. According to Parent Herald, Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana who play Jake Sully and the Na'vi priestess Neytiri, respectively, had demanded a hefty amount of fee for reprising their role. It would appear that Cameron did note budge and mentioned Stephen Lang and Sigourney Weaver are in the lead roles.

There has been no official statement whether the rumors are true or not until this date.

Another angle that may be causing delay is Cameron's desire for better technology. He explained he would prefer a better projection without the need for 3D glasses, and that development for better high dynamic rates and high frame rates are possible in the future, as reported by the Independent.

Moreover, he endeavors to have the audience watch all four sequels to the film using advanced filmmaking. The said sequels are supposedly centered on Jake and Neytiri's children, as well as their continuing battle with the humans, as per the Christian Times.

Cameron taking his time is not something odd. It took years for him to finish the masterpiece which is "Avatar," thus coming up with sequels can be taxing as a predecessor puts pressure on how it should come out. He revolutionized filmmaking with 3D technology, immersing spectators in an environment that appeared real, so his vision may not necessarily be farfetched at all.

"Avatar 2" is expected to be released in 2018. The succeeding movies are being fanned out up until 2023.
