"Avatar" was a box-office hit created by legendary filmmaker James Cameron. Cameron's sci-fi creation has garnered fans from all over the world who are all waiting for the release of the second installment of the "Avatar" saga, "Avatar 2."

"Avatar" tells the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), two characters of different species' and from different worlds. In "Avatar," Sully was a disabled human being from earth who got to live as a Na'Vi with the Omaticaya tribe in the mystical world of Pandora.

Though Sully's original purpose in living with the Na'Vi is to study the species, he soon found himself falling for Neytiri, leading Sully to decide to live as a Na'Vi indefinitely.

"Avatar 2" is the second part of "Avatar's" four part saga, and Cinema Blend reports that the sequel will allegedly be released in December 2018. As for the other installments of the "Avatar" saga, the last 2 films are speculated to be released in 2020 and 2022.

"Avatar" was originally planned to be followed by 2 more sequels, but sources say that Cameron decided to go with a four-part saga instead.

On another note, "Avatar 2" is expected to be more majestic than its prequel, especially since Cameron was rumored to be trying out higher frame rates for "Avatar 2," specifically for underwater scenes. One speculation about the sequel's plot is that it will be about the continued romance between Sully and Neytiri, where a possible marriage and new Na'Vi family could sprout from.

Despite the lack of information regarding "Avatar 2's" plot, fans can expect new characters from "whole new worlds, habitats, and cultures," says Cameron

Another thing "Avatar" fans can expect from "Avatar 2" is the comeback of original actors from the saga's initial movie including Worthington, Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang.

However, even though word has spread that "Avatar 2" will be released in theaters come December 2018, the release date is still not considered final.
