Baby With Gigantic Tumour Is Born Twice After Her Parents Chose Life: 'God's Hand' Was on Mom and Child

This baby had to be medically "born again" to stay alive.

Lynlee Hope Boemer came out of her mother's womb twice—the first time when she was just 23 weeks and five days old.

Doctors at the Texas Children's Fetal Center in Houston were forced to perform a Caesarian section on her mother, Margaret, in March to remove a large tumour on the baby's tailbone that was killing her, CBN News reported.

Throughout the ordeal faced by the mother and her infant daughter, the Boemers believe "God's hand" was on them, miraculously saving both the baby and her mom.

"Through this entire experience we have trusted in God to get us through each day," Margaret and her husband Jeff said of their long and traumatic ordeal on their GoFundMe page.

Earlier, when the tumour was first seen on Margaret's ultrasound, one hospital urged the couple to abort the baby, saying the baby's tumour threatened the mother's health. The couple rejected the advice, saying they wanted to keep the baby alive.

Texas Children's Fetal Center gave them a more positive option—foetal surgery to remove the tumour, with the doctors giving the baby a 50 percent survival chance.

Dr. Darrell Cass and Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye performed the Caesarean section to remove the tiny one-pound, three-ounce foetus and the gigantic tumour attached to her.

According to ITV, Cass said the tumour was so large that a huge cut was needed to get the baby out of the uterus.

"So it ended up that the baby was hanging out in the air. Essentially, the foetus is outside, like completely out, all the amniotic fluid falls out. It's actually fairly dramatic," he said.

The baby's heart stopped during the surgery, but the surgeons successfully restarted the heartbeat. She also required a blood transfusion.

After removing 90 percent of the tumour, the doctors put Lynlee back into her mother's womb and sewed up the incision.

"It's kind of a miracle you're able to open the uterus like that and seal it all back and the whole thing works," Cass said.

Weeks later, Margaret had another Caesarean section, and Lynlee Hope Boemer was born "again" at 36 weeks and five days gestation.

Eight days after her birth, the doctors removed the remaining portion of the tumour.

Now five months old, "born again" Lynlee is a healthy baby girl. Her parents can only thank God and the people who supported them for their miracle daughter.
