Norman (Freddie Highmore) will go ballistic on Norma (Vera Farmiga) after learning that she wants him to be admitted in a mental facility in the upcoming season of the thriller series "Bates Motel."

In a recent promo released by A&E, Norma is seen telling her son that she wants him to stay for a while in Pineview Mental Institution. According to her, Norman needs all the help he can get, even if he does not like to be in the institution. This, she says, is for his future. Upon hearing Norma's sentence, Norman just stares at his mother with teary eyes. When he is forced to say something to her, he coldly answers she is dead to him.

What follow next are confusing shots of what happened after. Norman is seen stealthily getting kitchen shears while his mother is calling him from upstairs. Next thing viewers see, Norma is running for her life while her youngest son is going after her. Last season, Norma wanted Norman to be admitted to the sanitarium. However, when she asked how much it would cost her, she was dismayed to learn that she could not afford it.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Kerry Ehrin shared that Farmiga's character would somehow find a way to cover the cost of having his son admitted at Pineview.

"Those places are insanely expensive, and if you don't have health insurance—and even if you do—they're crazy expensive. So where that money is going to come from, what Norma Bates will have to do...what pretzel she will tie herself into, I don't know yet. But she wants, more than anything in the world, to fix things for her son and to be there for him," the executive producer said.

Norman's stay at the mental health institution appears to be confirmed after the news came out that Damon Gupton has been cast as Pineview resident doctor Gregg Edwards. This suggests that Norma would find a way to pay for the exorbitant fees just so her son could get the help that he needs.

"Bates Motel" season 4 premieres on Monday, March 7, at 9 p.m. EST on A&E.
