In the upcoming DC animated movie "Batman: Gotham by Gaslight," the Dark Knight and Catwoman will be working together as they face one of the most heinous serial killers in history, Jack the Ripper.

"Batman: Gotham by Gaslight" is the first Elseworlds publication by DC Comics. The story takes Bruce Wayne aka Batman to London. Based on the trailer released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Batman will face the Ripper with the help of Selina Kyle aka Catwoman.

In the midst of his mission in the Victorian-themed Gotham City, Batman will also be falsely accused as the Ripper himself and then thrown into jail. According to IGN, one of the main elements in the plot is the mysterious identity of Jack the Ripper.

There were also sneak peek trailers uploaded in September that highlight Batman's struggle in catching the Ripper and the latter's brutality in killing women.

Confirmed actors to voice the main characters are Bruce Greenwood for Batman, Jennifer Carpenter for Catwoman and Anthony Head for Alfred. The DC comic book also featured other characters like Inspector Jim Gordon and Jacob Packer, who was a close friend of the Wayne family. There is still no information if these characters will be included in the animated movie and who their voice actors will be.

The Batman movie based on the DC comic "Gotham by Gaslight" by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola will be directed by Sam Liu. The Chinese-American director is known for several animation movies like "All-Star Superman" and "Thor: Son of Asgard."

The anime adaptation was written by famous screenwriter James Krieg, known for "Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. Production hasn't revealed if the movie will replicate the ending of the comic version.

The movie is scheduled to be released in 2018. Fans are waiting for the announcement of the exact premiere date of the animated movie as well as other updates.
