'Battlefield 1' news: title outselling 'Battlefield 4' and 'Battlefield Hardline' in first week

Battlefield 1 Collector's Edition EA DICE

Unsurprisingly, in its first week alone the new "Battlefield 1" game was able to surpass the sales of both "Battlefield 4" and "Battlefield: Hardline" combined. As such, the game was able to become one of the top titles in terms of sales in the U.K., putting it ahead of other Triple-A games available today.

According to Game Rant, while the "Call of Duty" series continues its journey to the future, EA DICE has decided to go the other direction. They instead went ahead and revisited one of the most pivotal periods in the history of humanity, the first World War, in the new "Battlefield" game. It was actually a risk, breaking from the modern and futuristic meta of the gaming industry, but thankfully, the risk has paid off.

After all, "Battlefield 1" was able to sell more copies in its first week than the combined sales of its two predecessor games. The game's sales is just a bit behind "Tom Clancy's The Division," which certainly put a higher bar in Ubisoft's sales records when it got released.

It is certainly surprising for "Battlefield 1" to do so well as EA revealed before that the game is just expected to sell about 15 million copies in its first year. The reason behind it is due to the fact that they are looking at the trends of the "Battlefield" games prior to this one. However, with the overwhelming success seen by "Battlefield 1," the title might even outperform the company's sales projections.

A reason behind the less-than-stellar performance of "Battlefield 4" was because of its serious connectivity issues as well as bugs, according to the Game Planet. It was so bad that it even resulted in lawsuits against EA, which certainly ruined the game for a lot of people.

Regardless, "Battlefield 1" is now out for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

More recently, I’ve enjoyed Christian movies Unsung Hero and Jesus Revolution on limited release in the UK, but it’s rare for such films to make the multiplex chains.
