'Battlefield 1' updates: 'Nivelle Nights' to come in June for premium pass holders

A preview of the upcoming DLC for "Battlefield 1" called "Nivelle Nights" EA/DICE

Developers EA and DICE have been keeping the momentum of "Battlefield 1" through several surprises regarding changes and downloadable contents (DLC) coming for its players.

At the start of the month, they announced a new feature called Premium Friends, where players can access the maps of the game as long as one of their friends own a season pass of "Battlefield 1." After a few days, they revealed their plans regarding the spring update — a preview and some details about the new DLC called "In the Name of the Tsar" as well as the announcement that DLCs will come monthly instead of per season starting May.

Now, they have hinted about a new DLC coming in June for premium pass owners called "Nivelle Nights." In their blog, EA and DICE announced that the upcoming DLC will take place in Chemin des Dames in year 1917.

Based on the description, the story will revolve around the circumstance where the French and German batteries gear up to support their troops in a disputed area, "as darkness falls over the muddy battlefields around Malmaison and Soupir."

The summary went on, "The moon, the searchlights, and the artillery lights up the night skies, exposing the vast network of trenches." "Nivelle Nights" will challenge players to have better strategy and teamwork than their opponent, as each one combats to get the contested grounds.

According to PVPLive, the DLC may feature the story of the Second Battle of Aisne, where General Robert Nivelle strategized the offense to defeat the German armies in France on December 1916. Even though they were unable to reach their ultimate goal, the strategy introduced by the general is still considered a success.

Players who can access the Community Test Environment may give the game a try once DICE is done with its updates. At the moment, it is also uncertain whether "Nivelle Nights" is going to be available for purchase for non-season pass holders.

"Battlefield 1" was released last October and is available for the Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 gaming consoles.
