"Bayonetta 3" is quite a stab at console exclusivity, as the next sequel for the highly acclaimed "Bayonetta" game franchise will only be available for the Nintendo Switch.

This has caused quite a lot of aggressive questions, most of them directed towards series creator Hideki Kamiya since he was the one who agreed to the exclusivity deal with Nintendo. This ultimately prompted him to defend this decision, and he took to Twitter to address fan concerns about the upcoming "Bayonetta 3" for Switch.

Apparently, Nintendo was responsible for the existence of "Bayonetta 3," meaning it would probably not have been made if not for the exclusivity deal. This was because a lot of the funding and budget for the game probably came from the console and game company. In addition to that, it seems Nintendo also had a hand in "Bayonetta's" longevity as a franchise even before "Bayonetta 3," as it can be recalled that they shouldered the finance problems surrounding "Bayonetta 2" after the original license holder Sega decided to retract funding for the game.

As such, Kamiya had to explain how the exclusivity and video game license procedure work. He revealed that most of the funding necessary to make the game and for the developers to get paid comes from the publisher and license holder, which in this case, is now both Sega and Nintendo. Hence the exclusivity deal for the Switch, meaning Xbox One, PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PC owners might not be getting the game, unless the original rights owner Sega will do something about it.

Regardless of which platform it becomes exclusive for, Kamiya explained that he and his development team will remain dedicated to bringing the best possible gaming experience for "Bayonetta 3." It can also be recalled that the first "Bayonetta" game was initially just an Xbox 360 exclusive, but was nevertheless, a good game, good enough to warrant a port to another gaming platform, though with the contract for "Bayonetta 3," multiplatform chances are slim.

Meanwhile, Switch owners can expect the game to be stellar, if Kamiya will deliver on his promises for the title.
