"Soul Surfer" Bethany Hamilton is one lucky lady. Not only is her husband Adam Dirks really good to her, but he is also an amazing father as far as Hamilton is concerned.

Hamilton cannot help but gush about Dirks as she shared a photo of him carrying their newborn son Tobias on her Instagram account (@bethanyhamilton). "My loves. Adam is such a great dad to Tobias. I'm very thankful," she captioned it.

Before she met Dirks, Hamilton was all set to marry a surfer. Dirks, on the other hand, knew little about Hamilton's celebrity status when he first moved from Kansas to Kauai. But after they were introduced by a common friend, sparks flew.

Dirks might not be on the same level as Hamilton when it comes to surfing, but he enjoys the sport as well. "Whenever she was home from traveling we'd go on long hikes or go surfing. None of the dinner and movie type of dates. A lot of good, quality time together," he told Hawaii News Now.

They bonded even further when they joined "The Amazing Race," and the couple surprised the other contestants and viewers when they completed the competition without fighting. There were certain times difficult situations brought out the worst in them, but the two made it a point to talk things out no matter how and what they are feeling.

"We sometimes have a hard time communicating when we are frustrated with one another. I want us to be more open and talk about these frustrations before they build up into something bigger," said Dirks.

As for married life, Hamilton thinks it's pretty "awesome" and she cannot imagine life without Dirks. "It's really just special and exciting to be able to share life so closely together," she said.
