Will "Better Call Saul" be renewed for season 4 or cancelled after its current run? The show started season 3 in April with a slump, which concerned avid viewers. But the numbers have lately gotten a big boost, especially after introducing familiar faces from "Breaking Bad" in the recent episodes.

Data from The Nielsen Company via TV by The Numbers revealed the show received huge gains and doubled its audience in episodes that aired in May. More viewers, however, preferred catching up on "Better Call Saul" via DVR, which is why this number remains consistently high compared to the live airings.

Given the scenario, AMC should have already renewed "Better Call Saul" for season 4 by this time but there have not been any indications from the network so far. According to CarterMatt, while the series has gotten a big ratings boost via DVR, it lost some 30 percent of its targeted audience among adults 18–49.

One thing "Better Call Saul" has got going is that the show is not a ratings powerhouse to begin with. It is, however, a critical success and awards-giving body favorite, which is why AMC might likely hang on to this series for a few more years. But still, it will need to boost its audience as it will risk becoming that critically-acclaimed series nobody watched.

So, to compound on the loss, AMC is taking advantage of the long Memorial Day weekend holiday. "Better Call Saul" season 3 will take a short break on the air this Monday, May 29. In its place, however, the cable network will run a marathon of the series so viewers will be able to catch up on past episodes, as per Call Saul Now.

The current season will resume airing new episodes beginning Monday, June 5. Meanwhile, check out the upcoming episode's teaser in the video below and keep tabs on this site for news on "Better Call Saul" renewal or cancellation.
