Gearbox Software is launching their brand new video game "Battleborn" and while all the attention has been shifted to this new IP, the developers have, as stated in a report from IGN, hinted that they are working on "Borderlands 3." According to the report, there is a chance that they will unveil the game during this year's E3.

E3 will be held this June, and the report points out that the developers may focus primarily on promoting "Battleborn." It is because it is a brand new IP that needs to gain attention and profits before the company delves back into their established franchise such as the aforementioned "Borderlands."

It is also reported that "Borderlands 3" was teased as far back as PAX South 2015 and this may indicate that prelimary development on the game may already be done, but resources are likely still being poured onto "Battleborn" and its scheduled DLC packs.

According to the report, the chance of Gearbox Software unveiling "Borderlands 3" during E3 is quite slim. It is explained that the most they may give is a short teaser trailer or an image but nothing more in order to guarantee that "Battleborn" remains steady in the spotlight.

It has been revealed that the DLCs for "Battleborn" will have several Easter eggs regarding the "Borderlands" franchise and may even contain spoilers and teasers for "Borderlands 3." It is hinted that these may range from teaser images that fans of the series may pick up or a few indications of new gameplay or characters.

While no official news about the story or characters of "Borderlands 3" have been released, it was previously reported that voice actor and writer Mikey Neumann may already have a character in mind. This character is teased to be the son of Scooter. Unfortunately, there are no confirmations that this new character will be in "Borderlands 3."

"Battleborn" has already been launched for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and fans will be looking forward to E3 in regards to any announcement for "Borderlands 3."
