Former eight-division champion  Manny Pacquiao was in Japan to help the Philippines in the nation's bid to host the 2019 FIBA World Cup, which they lost to China; and in an interview, he expressed his desire to have a rematch against rival Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It has been over three months since Pacquiao and Mayweather met on the ring last May 2 for the richest fight in boxing history, a bout that went the way of the undefeated champion via unanimous decision.

Majority of boxing fans were disappointed with the bout since Mayweather used an excellent defensive strategy while Pacquiao fought with an injured shoulder.

In an interview with Fightnews.com while in Japan, the 36-year-old discussed his shoulder injury, how his fight with Mayweather went, and the rematch he wants.

Regarding his injury, Pacquiao was rotating his shoulder when asked about it and said he no longer has any problems with it.

Pacquiao was also asked a review of his fight against the top pound-for-pound champion and he answered, "He was running away all the time. I was making the fight by stalking him and believe that I deserved a victory."

The Filipino boxing icon said he plans to concentrate on his duties as a congressman in the Philippines and is looking for a rematch with Mayweather when asked about his future plans.

"I'll be ready for that mentally and physically next year. I'll show a better performance against him than in the first encounter," Pacquiao added talking about a possible rematch against Mayweather.

But for now Pacquiao has to wait together with other top contenders or he may never have another shot again. Mayweather already selected an opponent for possibly the final fight of his career on Sept. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The lucky boxer selected by Mayweather to be his last opponent is Andre Berto, whom he believes is an exciting boxer who deserves a title shot.
