The Brooklyn Nets are giving veteran free agent guard Dahntay Jones another shot in his career as they signed him to a non-guaranteed contract. Jones will join a group of players who are also signed under the same pact.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported the news about the Nets signing Jones.

Under the new contract, Jones will be participating in the Nets training camp and will be competing for a roster spot.

Jones is an 11-year veteran in the National Basketball Association (NBA) who played last season with the Los Angeles Clippers, which was his seventh team.

The 34-year-old guard played in 33 regular season games last season and averaged a career-low 3.7 minutes of action per contest.

Jones also saw limited action in the Clippers' playoff run in the 2014–15 season having 11 postseason appearances.

Before spending time with the Clippers, Jones also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Dallas Mavericks, and the Atlanta Hawks.

Between those stints Jones also played in the NBA Developmental League (D-League) for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in 2008 and the early part of the 2014–15 season.

Jones joins fellow guards Markel Brown, Ryan Boatright, and Donald Sloan with forwards Quincy Miller and Willie Reed as players who are signed under non-guaranteed contracts for the Nets, according to Bleacher Report.

The Nets currently have 12 players signed to guaranteed contracts with Bleacher Report adding that one of those is for the league minimum.

If Jones makes it to the roster for the 2015–16 season, he will be contributing experience and veteran leadership to the Nets, although it is likely that he will be playing very limited minutes.

The Nets are looking to return to the playoffs this season and reach farther after getting eliminated early last season.

Brooklyn finished on the final playoff spot last season with a 38–44 record and faced the East-leading Atlanta Hawks who eliminated them in six games in the first round.

More recently, I’ve enjoyed Christian movies Unsung Hero and Jesus Revolution on limited release in the UK, but it’s rare for such films to make the multiplex chains.
