As a grown man, Jake (Andy Samberg) does not usually put much hype on his birthday. This year, though, is doubly special, as he gets to spend it with his girlfriend Amy (Melissa Fumero). The timing also seems right to introduce her to his mother, but a complication that could spoil his big day will surface.

In the upcoming episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" titled "Karen Peralta," TV.com reports that Jake's beautiful mother Karen (Katey Sagal) will come to see him at the 99th precinct. It is not every day that her precious child celebrates his birthday and she wants to surprise him. Karen is also looking forward to this trip, as Jake is hinting that she will finally meet the woman he has been seeing.

Unfortunately, the happy reunion will be marred by the arrival of Jake's absentee father, Roger (Bradley Whitford). His presence will make things difficult for Karen, as ever since the divorce, they have not seen each other. According to TV Line, Jake was only seven years old when Roger walked out on them. Karen raised him single handedly as the father chose to stay out of their lives.

In the past, the airline pilot came to see his son and they eventually bonded. This time, Jake will be thrilled to see his father once more, especially on his birthday. Karen, of course, will not be pleased with the turn of events. Will she be able to endure the hours she is going to spend with her ex, just to keep her only son happy on his special day? Or will they just spend the whole time arguing about the past?

Also in episode 14, Charles (Joe Lo Truglio) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz) will be stymied with a new standard operating procedure regarding body cameras. The agents will find it cumbersome, especially as they are working on a new case with Terry (Terry Crews). Will they end up blowing the mission?

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 3 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
